Church Eaton Cricket Club is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded funding as part of the Staffordshire Community Foundation and TopCashback Sustainability Fund.

This generous grant will go towards a brand-new rainwater harvesting tank, forming a key part of our commitment to sustainability and reducing our environmental impact.

What This Means for the Club
Watering the cricket square is essential for maintaining a high-quality playing surface, especially during dry summer months. However, relying on the mains water supply can put a significant strain on the club’s budget and the wider environment. With this funding, we will install a rainwater harvesting system that will:

  • Collect and store rainwater year-round
  • Pump harvested water to the cricket square during drought periods
  • Reduce our reliance on mains water
  • Lower the club’s utility bills
  • Make the club more environmentally sustainable

By harvesting and reusing rainwater, we can ensure the playing surface remains in top condition while cutting costs and reducing the club’s impact on the environment. This is a major step forward in our ongoing sustainability efforts.

A Big Thank You
We are incredibly grateful to the Staffordshire Community Foundation and TopCashback Sustainability Fund for their support in helping us take this important step towards a more sustainable future. Grants like these make a real difference to community clubs like ours, ensuring we can continue to provide a great environment for cricket while keeping running costs manageable.

Next Steps
Installation of the new system will begin soon, and we look forward to seeing the long-term benefits it brings to the club. Stay tuned for updates as we put this plan into action!

Thank you to all our members and supporters for helping us drive forward these improvements – together, we’re building a stronger, greener future for Church Eaton Cricket Club.
