Church Eaton Cricket Club is proud to announce the successful establishment of Church Eaton Men's Shed, a new community initiative that provides a welcoming space for men, particularly those in retirement, to come together, share skills, and support local projects.
This fantastic initiative, spearheaded by Club Chairman Mike Trayte and supported by Matthew Burslem, was born from the club's recognition of a need within the community for a space where men could meet, work on practical projects, and combat loneliness and isolation in rural areas.
A New Community Hub
The Men's Shed has already formed a constitution and appointed Dave Cann as its Chair, marking an exciting first step in its development. The group meets every Monday at 10 AM, with plans to add an additional day due to growing popularity.
Members will have the opportunity to engage in various activities such as:
Woodworking & woodturning Gardening & general maintenance Helping with community projects Supporting the cricket club with ground upkeep
The group is open to all, providing a place where like-minded individuals can meet, have a coffee and a chat, and get involved in hands-on projects that benefit both themselves and the wider community.
A Brilliant Partnership with the Cricket Club
As part of their agreement, the Men's Shed has committed to assisting with essential jobs and maintenance around the cricket club, ensuring that the ground and facilities remain in top condition. The club would like to extend a huge thank you to the group for their recent work in fitting new timber supports and fascias on the pavilion. Their hard work and dedication have already made a noticeable difference, and we hope this partnership continues to grow and thrive.
The Men's Shed also hopes to extend its support to local parish councils and villages, helping with repairs, maintenance, and small projects that can make a big difference to the wider community.
Seeking Donations of Tools & Equipment
Now in its infancy, Church Eaton Men's Shed is seeking donations of tools, equipment, and materials to help get projects off the ground. If you have any woodworking tools, gardening equipment, or general workshop supplies that you can donate, your support would be hugely appreciated.
If you're interested in joining or supporting the group, please reach out to Chairman Dave Cann at churcheatonmensshed@gmail.com, or simply turn up on a Monday at 10 AM to see what it's all about.
You can also join their Facebook group – Church Eaton Men's Shed – to stay updated and become a member.
Together, we can build something truly special for the community!
